Release of Helena Bonham-Carter’s much anticipated Fishlove portrait to the front page of the Evening Standard for Blue Marine Foundation's Great British Oceans campaign. The campaign is working to persuade the UK government to designate Marine Reserves in its Overseas Territories, thereby doubling the area of the globes oceans that are protected.

Launch of Denis Rouvre collection for Bloom

Launch of Denis Rouvre’s Fishlove collection featuring Gillian Anderson, Goldie and a number of major French celebrities for the BLOOM campaign to end destructive deep-sea trawling methods. Photographs appeared in every major European newspaper and in over 250 media outlets in the world, as well as on the Jonathan Ross TV show. An Avaaz petition launched by Bloom & Fishlove received 450,000 signatures. The campaign to achieve a European ban was lost on a technicality.

Release of Lizzy Jagger portrait for OCEAN2012

Release of Rankin’s Lizzy Jagger Fishlove portrait for the OCEAN2012 campaign to hits the front page of Evening Standard, resulting in the most prominent campaign to date. Fishlove website receives 1.5 million hits in one week alone. PR value for UK media: £410,000 (source: JBPR).

Mike Walker, of OCEAN2012, says: “It would be difficult to over-estimate the importance of Fishlove to the campaign to
 end over-fishing in Europe. These images 
have played a significant part in what has been achieved over the past year.”

Release of second Rankin collection appears on cover of Sunday Times magazine on the weekend of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee for the OCEAN2012 campaign. Major international coverage of the issue of overfishing follows, including Der Spiegel, Bild Zeitung, and a four page piece in Vanity Fair Italy.

Release of first Rankin collection for 'The End of the Line'

Release of first Rankin collection to help promote "The End of the Line" featuring Greta Scacchi, Richard E Grant, Terry Gilliam and Emilia Fox.

Greta’s photograph featured in every major UK newspaper and in media around the world, including CNN. Greta was invited into 10 Downing Street to talk to then Labour government about making fishing more sustainable. Estimated PR value: £3.5 million (source: “The End of the Line”)

The Future

Fishlove wants to continue its work by creating more Fishlove images, by exhibiting these images around the world, and by showing them on billboards in major cities. We are confident that the latest collection of photographs by John Swannell will be our most high-profile campaign yet, and we are presently looking for funders or sponsors to help us in our work to release these. We look forward to hearing from you.
